MU Housing is a department within the Division of Student Affairs providing a world-class housing experience that engages students within an innovative and educational environment that supports best housing practices and promotes student success.

Job Description

Leads Off-Campus Student Services and outreach efforts to strengthen the student experience and support enrollment goals. Manages services and programming for students living off campus, directs outreach initiatives (Student Ambassador program, admissions travel), and ensures students are supported in their transition to and from on-campus living while promoting MU Housing to prospective students and families. Serves as the primary liaison for MU Housing's internal and external partnerships, acting as a brand ambassador for the department. Builds and strengthens relationships with campus and community partners, city officials, and alumni to highlight the department's role in supporting student success and the broader university mission. This includes showcasing MU Housing's contributions to reinforce the department's impact on student engagement and institutional reputation.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee Off-Campus Student Services, including housing information, education, and resources for students transitioning to or living off campus. Serve as a resource and advocate for students seeking off-campus housing guidance. Coordinate with the office of General Counsel when addressing complex off-campus property complaints or drafting agreements related to off-campus housing partnerships.
  • Develop and implement outreach initiatives, educational and social programming for off-campus students. Outreach and collaboration with City Neighborhood Services and the Columbia Police Department.
  • Strengthen and expand partnerships with city officials, neighborhood services, and property managers to address student housing issues, coordinate complaint responses, and develop educational programming for landlords and students.
  • Coordinate and supervise the MU Housing student ambassador program, including recruitment, training, and development.
  • Represent MU Housing and other divisional units at admissions recruitment travel, orientation, and university programs.
  • Act as a unit brand ambassador, developing and presenting materials that highlight how MU Housing, MizzouRec and Student Affairs supports students and contributes to university goals through recruitment, retention, and engagement initiatives.
  • Identify and pursue new internal and external partnerships to enhance MU Housing and other divisional units outreach, visibility, and community engagement.
  • Collaborate with Admissions, Alumni Association, and Advancement to plan and execute signature outreach events such as Homecoming in the residence halls, staff and family Homecoming activities, and recruitment partnership initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Strategic Communications and Marketing to develop campaigns and materials that highlight the department's programs and impact. Manage program budgets, operations, and logistics, ensuring alignment with departmental goals.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Shift

8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday

This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Student Affairs or related field.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Range: $52,915.20 - $65,000/year, paid monthly
GGS/PAT Level: 010
