     Assists in the diagnoses of malfunctions and in making repairs and adjustments to all automotive equipment to keep it in good operating condition.Assists in preventative maintenance and repairs to all major systems on trucks, equipment and automobiles owned by the City.Keeps records of repairs and maintenance work.Assists in snow removal and salting, lawn mowing and other seasonal jobs.Assists in street sweeping and removal of dead animals.Assists with putting up barricades and temporary signage.Assists with flood control.Performs related duties as assigned. 
 
     
   
 
    High school diploma (or graduation from high school within nine months of hire) and at least 1 year of specialized training in automobile and equipment mechanics, plus at least 1 - 3 years of automotive mechanic experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, ability and skills:

     Ability toThe techniques and practices, tools, equipment and materials used in automotive mechanics.Preventative maintenance techniques and practices.Occupational hazards and the practices and techniques used to avoid or minimize risks. 
 
     Skill inUnderstand and follow instructions.Diagnose operating malfunctions and make all necessary repairs.Operate light to heavy equipment.Use all tools and equipment necessary to accomplish automotive maintenance and repair.Perform light to heavy physical task under varying weather conditions.Keep records and make reports.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and coworkers. 
 
     The operation of a variety of tools and equipment used in the performance of the essential job functions.Oral and written communications. Necessary Special Requirements
 CDL with A, B, C and N endorsements; Master ASE certification; valid Wisconsin driver's license; 18 years or older; ability to complete a pre-employment post offer physical including drug test upon hire, and random drug and alcohol tests thereafter; must provide own hand tools.
