Job Summary:

In alignment with the Resort's vision, mission, organizational values, and under the direction of the Health, Safety & Sustainability Director. The Health & Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and managing comprehensive health, safety and risk management programs to ensure a safe environment for employees and guests across all resort operations. The manager will enable and advance a strong safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, support training and incident response efforts.

This role interacts at all levels of the organization to assess, create, and implement near and long term business goals that support compliance, health, and safety in the workplace. The Health & Safety Manager is also responsible for the development, support and implementation of safety policies, campaigns, and loss prevention programs.

Salaried:

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Base salary range: $75,132. - $105,184 per year

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks include the following: other duties may be assigned:
  • The Health & Safety Manager is responsible for building effective working relationships across the resort promoting a culture of safety at Palisades Tahoe.
  • Learn and assess risk factors in all areas of the business and workplace hazards.
  • Support Managers in the development of safety programs, Job Hazard Analysis and Department Training.
  • Advise on and monitor compliance with CalOSHA, legislation/regulations.
  • Participate in industry events and engage with other resorts on best practices.
  • Monitor all safety records, and digital reporting and recommend as needed changes/improvements for consideration to management. Support thorough and complete incident reporting.
  • Complete safety audits across operations.
  • Coordinate with Departments on Incident Investigations and communicate with guests, employees, witnesses and/or family members regarding injury incidents when necessary.
  • Participate in and support in Incident Reviews.
  • Assist with reviewing Event Contracts identifying risks and confirming COI requirements.
  • Assist with tracking employee, guest, property damage incidents.
  • Function as a contact for all involved parties in serious incidents including senior management, legal, ski patrol.
  • Develop and present Safety content to management.
  • Assist with the implementation of special projects.


Competencies and Job Requirements:
  • Effective leadership, problem solving, organizational and communication skills required.
  • Ability to prioritize conflicting needs; handle matters expeditiously, proactively, and follow-through on projects to successful completion.
  • Organize and maintain records, files, and reports.
  • Current, valid driver's license preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) required, particularly in highly volatile and/or emotional circumstances.
  • Minimum of (5) years of mountain operations or related ski resort experience.
  • Advanced skier - capable of skiing expert terrain at Palisades Tahoe.
  • Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Strong sense of customer service & safety awareness.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, comprehend instructions and respond to communication in various formats.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and/or oral instructions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Punctual, able to report at scheduled start time and get to work during harsh winter conditions.
  • Have a neat & clean appearance in compliance with the company grooming standards.
  • Daily contact with all Operations departments and divisions.
  • Responds to and manages a complex set of facts, rules and possible outcomes.
  • Must be able to manage a complex, heavy workload.


Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, see, and hear. Approximately half of the employee's time is spent outdoors including on foot and skies on variable summer and winter terrain. Sits for extended periods of time at a computer station or work desk; stands and walks regularly throughout the day; uses hands and fingers to operate computers and office equipment for up to 8 hours each day; lifts up to 10 pounds regularly; exposed to typical office environment conditions and noise levels. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

Indoor/Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to outside weather conditions.

Hazardous Materials/Noise: The noise level in the workplace is usually moderate.

Equipment Used in Job: General office equipment.

Education and Experience:

Required:

1. High School Diploma or GED

2. 2 years' administrative assistant/support related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred

1. Prior employment or strong familiarity with Palisades Tahoe and Mtn Operations
