Operations Technology Analyst

Brief Description:

The Operations Technology Analyst supports the design, configuration, and maintenance of AES Clean Energy's Energy Management, SCADA, Telecommunications, and other technology systems that help monitor and control power generation systems. These assets are vital for reliable electrical grid operations.

This entry-level role offers hands-on experience with a wide range of OT technologies, including hardware, software, networking, field devices, and cybersecurity, while supporting AES's digital strategy and gaining exposure to utility-scale operational systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in configuring, installing, and maintaining OT systems that support safe and reliable power generation.
  • Provide Level-1/2 support for OT applications and systems.
  • Help monitor and troubleshoot 24x7 systems used by engineering, dispatch, and field operations.
  • Work closely with senior team members to support system performance, availability, and security.
  • Support users in applying technology to improve operational efficiency.
  • Create and update system documentation, diagrams, and procedures under guidance.
  • Participate in vendor evaluations and testing of new tools or upgrades.
  • Assist in compliance research and documentation for standards and regulations.
  • Contribute to small projects or workstreams as part of a broader OT/SCADA team.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation after adequate training and shadowing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support OT systems and infrastructure.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (or currently pursuing) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in an OT, IT, or technical support role (internships count!).
  • Up to 60+% Travel may be required.
  • Familiarity with control systems, networking basics, or industrial technologies is a plus.
  • Strong interest in SCADA, Energy Management Systems (EMS), or cybersecurity.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Willingness to learn and grow within a collaborative technical team.
  • Ability to follow procedures and escalate issues when needed.

This role is a great stepping stone into advanced positions in OT/SCADA engineering, cybersecurity, or energy systems architecture. You'll be mentored by experienced professionals and gain real-world exposure to critical infrastructure technologies.
