Job Description

The School of Visual Studies at the University of Missouri is pleased to announce the opening for our Film Production Equipment Room Coordinator Position. This position oversees all aspects of the Film Production Equipment Room, which impacts approximately 150 Film Studies students plus other School of Visual Studies (SVS) students per semester.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Supervises the digital inventory of approximately 1200 items, keeping it in line with our physical inventory throughout the semester and updating it at the end of each semester. Will include switching to a new digital inventory system.
  • Oversees the checkout system for student projects, including locating equipment, scanning it into the inventory system, scheduling the return, and checking in equipment.
  • Oversees and tracks new equipment orders, entering the items into the digital inventory.
  • Onboards, schedules, trains, and supervises approximately 12 - 15 student workers per semester to staff the checkout room.
  • Repairs equipment when possible or coordinates equipment repairs and replacements, mailing out damaged equipment when necessary and tracking the repair and return process.
  • Communicates with students regarding liability waivers, late returns, and missing equipment, charging them a fee when necessary.
  • Communicates with professors regarding equipment needs and schedules for the semester plus about equipment information to share with students in their classes.
  • Communicates with student workers about schedules, equipment and inventory issues, and professors' orders so that they may prepare equipment and orders.
  • Fosters a learning environment with the student workers, the students checking out equipment, and the professors by being open to questions and communication.
  • Continually learns what is new in the world of film equipment and equipment room organization, such as ideal layouts, equipment maintenance, shelf organization, and potential workflow improvements.
Shift

Generally, Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer Bachelor's degree in Film Studies, Video Production, or related Field. Experience in college-level film equipment, maintenance, and tracking systems preferred. Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Anticipated Hiring Range: $17.50-21.50 per hour
Grade: GGS 007
