This role involves troubleshooting complex test scenarios, requiring in-depth knowledge and expertise in applying engineering principles to the design, development, and testing of explosive devices. The individual must comply with safety, regulatory, and quality policies at all times. Ballistics: Testing of energetic and inert projectiles, typically bullets, missiles and bombs. Primary Responsibilities: Below are the highest priority responsibilities performed in this position.   Test Design - Review project proposals/plans and develop technical test objectives. Use Engineering principles to design test procedures and specifications based on Customer SOWs and Test Standards.Lead research, development, and implementation of new testing capabilities. Lead technical reviews of customer SOW's.Support Sales and Business Development with capture and pursuit of new opportunities. Attend trade shows and customer visits when requested.Work with Project Managers and customers on test plans, deviations to testing, troubleshooting, and developing efficient testing processes.Lead the development, management, and planning for current and future ballistic testing capabilities and opportunities.Provide recommendations, and support with implementing, testing improvements for safety, efficiency, and quality of the data captured.Testing - Provide SME support to technicians as tests are conducted. Ensure that all necessary data is captured. Data Processing - After test completion, review and interpret test data. Communicate findings to Program Manager and/or client.Provide guidance and recommendations to customers on different test techniques, parameters, and standards.Follow all federal, state, local, and company rules and/or regulations for transportation, storage, handling, and use of any hazardous material.Minimum Qualifications: 
  Bachelor's Degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program or in Physics is required.Minimum 5 years of related experience in ballistics development and testing.Knowledgeable and experienced in relevant aspects of perforating gun assembly, operating procedures, and explosive safety.Experience designing and managing ballistics testing.Experience in working in a project team environment.This role is required to be on-site in a lab.Preferred Qualifications: 
  Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is desired.8+ years of related experience in ballistics development and testing.Experience with testing Defense or Aerospace components or products, specifically in the areas of fluids, dynamics, and/or energetics preferred.Experience in marketing and sales is a plus.Prior military experience is a plus.Knowledge and Skills: 
  Complete understanding of Engineering principles related to ballistics and munitions.Understanding Military & Aerospace compliance standards.Technical expertise to directly lead the testing of weapons, munitions, armor, and advanced technologies.Data Acquisition - knowledgeable of sensors, DAQ, and high-speed cameras. Familiar with data collection software, troubleshooting connections and operation, and implementing quality system for calibration cycles.Demonstrates excellent judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.Full understanding, interpretation, and analysis of test results, which includes troubleshooting and reworking standard tests as needed.Strong foundation of product and process applications, explosive knowledge, safety, testing, troubleshooting, and proven project execution.Knowledgeable in OSHA safety regulations, ATF & DOT explosives, transportation, storage, and documentation requirements.Ability to uphold a culture of safety and quality while performing daily tasks.Ability to regularly interact with clients and build productive internal/external working relationships.Fully capable of sharing complex skills and knowledge with others and delegating responsibility effectively.Good computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.Ability to develop and provide reports to management.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
