Senior Mental Health Specialist: Licensed Mental Health Clinician - Community Based Specialist
Full-Time | Licensed LMSW, LCSW, or LMHC | Assessment & Consultation

We are seeking compassionate and skilled Community Based Specialists (LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT) to join Montefiore/UBA's Clinical Support Program (CSP). Clinicians will provide assessments and consultations to families referred by our partners at the NYC Administration for Children's Services (ACS) in the Bronx. These clinicians bring expertise in home visiting and family engagement, ensuring that children and families receive high-quality, trauma-informed support both in the office as well as directly in their homes and communities.

Montefiore, the University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine, is nationally recognized for clinical excellence, research, and community partnerships that improve health outcomes across New York City. University Behavioral Associates (UBA), a part of Montefiore, is dedicated to providing innovative, evidence-based behavioral health and child welfare services to support children, families, and communities.

CSP clinical staff will be based at one of the following Bronx locations: 1200 Waters Place, 2100 Bartow Avenue, and 2501 Grand Concourse (with responsibilities at 1775 Grand Concourse). Staff may be expected to travel between locations at times. The typical shift is M-F from 8:30am-5pm but occasional evenings may be required.

About the Role

As a Community Based Specialist, you will serve as a clinical partner to ACS staff, providing on-the-ground expertise during home and community visits. You will conduct mental status assessments, support client engagement, and offer clinical input in real time. In addition, when home visit demand is lower, you may provide consultation support at program sites to ensure timely response to clinical needs.

We are hiring multiple Community Based Specialists. Those with experience across the lifespan (child, adolescent, adults), and/or those with experience in intimate partner violence (IPV) are strongly encouraged to apply.

This is a Union (1199) position. Starting salary is $39/ hour. Benefits are excellent, including generous time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, child care and tuition support, and more.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend home visits upon ACS request to provide clinical expertise and support.
  • Conduct mental status assessments and share findings to guide case planning and engagement strategies.
  • Assist in strengthening family engagement and participation during home visits and case contacts.
  • Collaborate with ACS staff, supervisors, and clinical teams to ensure services are clinically sound and family-centered.
  • Provide backup consultation support at sites when there is a high volume of consultation requests.
  • Uphold standards of trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate practice.

What We're Looking For

  • Licensed LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT (required)
  • 5+ years of clinical experience providing services to children, adults, and families
  • 2+ years working with child welfare-involved families or in related high-need systems
  • Specialized expertise in home visiting models and practice
  • Strong clinical assessment, engagement, and communication skills
  • Flexibility and collaboration in supporting both community-based home visits and site-based consultations
  • Spanish speaking preferred

Why Join Us?

  • Play a unique role in bringing clinical care directly into family homes
  • Partner with child welfare staff to strengthen safety, stability, and engagement
  • Be part of an interdisciplinary team of consultants and supervisors
  • Gain experience in both community-based and program-based consultation
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits
