Pantheon Data (a Kenific Holding company) is a private, small business based in the Washington, DC, area. Pantheon Data was founded in 2011, initially providing acquisition and supply chain management services to the US Coast Guard. Our service offerings have grown in the past ten years, including infrastructure resiliency, contact center operations, information technology, software engineering, program management, strategic communications, engineering, and cybersecurity. We have also grown our customer base to include commercial clients. Position Overview

We are seeking a mid-level Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML) Engineer with experience in computer vision, Optical Character Recognition (OCR), Natural Language Processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLMs), and other deep learning models. Ideally, this candidate would have experience combining these tools in a solution focused on Intelligent Document Processing (IDP). A successful candidate should be able to demonstrate technical proficiency with these mentioned AI/ML tools and have a proven track record engineering software solutions to process and analyze unstructured data sets. The candidate will be able to communicate clearly and effectively with engineers as well as less technical team members (e.g., project managers, customers, executive teams).

Responsibilities



  • Develop and deploy AI/ML models and algorithms on AWS or Azure platforms to deliver scalable and reliable AI/ML solutions
  • Develop code for IDP use cases using preferred programming languages to support requirements
  • Utilize computer vision, LLMs, and other Generative AI/Deep Learning algorithms to provide unique solutions
  • Conduct research and stay up to date with the latest AI technologies, frameworks, and tools offered by Azure and AWS
  • Inform development decisions by leveraging technical knowledge of IDP/Generative AI solution architectures and best practices
  • Propose forward-thinking ideas in support of data-centric product development
  • Work within a growing engineering team to support software and systems solutions across customers and projects
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary solutions that combine data engineering and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning to integrate predictive models
  • Collaborate with Engineering Team Leads and team members to design and develop solutions that exceed expectations
  • Ensure security, privacy, and compliance of AI solutions by following best practices and cloud platform guidelines


Required Skills and Experience



  • Ability to work effectively remotely in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and produce quality work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite software including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, data science, engineering, mathematics, or a related technical discipline
  • 3+ years professional, hands-on experience in an AI/ML engineering role
  • Must be technically proficient in computer vision, IDP (including OCR/NLP algorithms), Generative AI and Deep Learning algorithms, and associated technologies, programming languages, and system architectures
  • Experience in one or more of the ML model development libraries: TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, etc.
  • Experience with SQL, NoSQL, Python, and basic Linux
  • Experience with ML Flow and Databricks
  • Well-rounded and willing to learn and contribute meaningfully across technical areas
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact clearly and succinctly in written and oral presentations
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and organized
  • Ability to work effectively remotely in cross-functional teams
  • Ability to meet deadlines and produce quality work


Preferred Skills and Experience



  • Active DOD Secret Clearance Preferred
  • AWS and/or Microsoft Azure certification(s)
  • Experience in cloud infrastructure development with AWS and Azure
  • Working knowledge of Agile Scrum methodology with JIRA/Confluence experience or similar
  • Experience with Terraform, Docker, relational databases, and non-relational databases such as MongoBD/DynamoDB
  • Experience in Docker, CI/CD automation
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior developers
  • Experience with unit testing/integration testing
  • Experience developing code within a government-hosted environment


Clearance Requirements

U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
