Job Description Norfolk Southern Corporation is seeking a Data Governance Analyst to help lay the tracks for a smarter, more connected future. As part of a newly formed team, you'll play a key role in building the data foundation that powers one of America's leading freight railroads. You'll work alongside business and technology teams to support the implementation of enterprise-wide data governance initiatives, ensuring our data is accurate, trusted, and ready to fuel innovation. Responsibilities * Support the rollout and adoption of data governance tools, frameworks, and processes across the enterprise. * Document governance workflows, data standards, metadata definitions, and related artifacts. * Monitor and report on data quality, identifying issues and supporting remediation through action plans. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align governance practices with business and technology objectives. * Assist in the development and delivery of training programs to promote data stewardship and governance awareness. * Contribute to the creation of a unified data fabric that connects systems, teams, and insights across Norfolk Southern. * Help advance data governance principles, policies, and programs that support stewardship, advocacy, and custodianship. * Track and manage opportunities for continuous improvement in governance standards, guidelines, and processes. * Define and report on performance metrics related to data governance, data quality, and metadata management. Skills Required: * Foundational understanding of data governance, data quality, metadata management, or master data management concepts. * Ability to analyze data issues and contribute to the development of solutions that align with governance objectives. * Familiarity with data governance platforms. * Proficient in SQL, data profiling, data cleansing, and data management. Education Preferred: * Bachelors in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Data Engineering or related field. Work Conditions Environment: Hybrid 3 days on-site and remote work 2 days per week.
