Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

The position serves for the Physician Enterprise Finance Office and will partner with multiple
Departments varying in size and complexity and will be responsible for delivering finance and operations support that will enable their departmental business partners, UCI Health, and SOM leadership to make timely decisions and achieve desired financial and clinical operational results. This position performs analytic support and leadership to aid in the financial and strategic management for the Physician Enterprise and supports both the Director of Clinical Operations and the VP of Finance. The incumbent will lead a team of analysts and conduct innovative and comprehensive reviews of a variety of complex clinical financial components for UCI Health's Physician Enterprise. Responsible for reviewing, researching, analyzing, and developing strategies to analyze billing data, physician practice performance and productivity. Through the use of professional fee billing benchmarks, clinical practice and faculty productivity measures will establish forecasting and reporting methods to monitor performance against benchmarks. The incumbent will partner with a variety of campus, Medical Center and School of Medicine departments and other sources on a wide spectrum of analytical needs and challenges to develop innovative recommendations and strategic solutions for the Dean's office. Work completed by incumbent contributes to major SOM and Medical Center objectives and directly impacts SOM departmental and supports clinical integration goals.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications:

  • Skill to organize tasks, prioritize, and complete assignments when faced with heavy and diversified workload, deadlines, and demanding requests for service in an environment of frequent interruptions and/or distractions.
  • Experience using Excel to input and organize data, analyze data, and create accurate and informative tables, charts, graphs, and reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain professional working relationships.
  • Demonstrated success in applying critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated skill to work independently to analyze situations, interpret data, define problems and/or objectives, identify relevant factors, and formulate logical confusions.
  • Demonstrated experience working as a member of a team, being willing to offer services and respond to requests for assistance under appropriate circumstances
  • Demonstrated experience in financial analysis.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with a variety of constituencies including faculty, administrators, staff, students, and vendors.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and contribute both as an individual and a team member to achieve the goals of the School.
  • Ability to effectively read, write and speak English
  • 5 - 7 years of relative experience with BA/BS, or equivalent experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of accounting theory and university fund accounting
  • Experience with University of California or University of California, Irvine policies and procedures.
  • Experience with UC or UC Irvine enterprise systems, including but not limited to Kuali Financial System, Cognos Decision Support, and Campus Billing System Online.
  • Experience processing financial journals, recharge transactions, and budget transfers
