Job Summary:

As a key member of the Plant Management Team, the Fabrication Operations Manager plays a vital role in aligning departmental objectives with the organization's long-term strategy. This position is responsible for leading a flow-based production environment, ensuring compliance with company policies, and fostering cross-functional collaboration. The manager will drive safety, quality, and cost efficiency through effective leadership, problem-solving, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position reports to the Plant Manager.

Required Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of fabrication-related work experience.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in conflict resolution.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering field is preferred.
  • Experience in welding and/or fabrication preferred.
  • Knowledge of machining, tooling, tolerancing, machine setup, automation, and pricing models.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Creative thinker with strong decision-making and multitasking abilities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead fabrication operations with full accountability for safety, quality, cost, productivity, and P&L performance across a team of 25-35 employees.
  • Oversee the manufacturing of aluminum extrusions, including cutting, punching, bending, welding and CNC machining.
  • Manage outsourcing strategies for work beyond internal capabilities, ensuring aligning with customer requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership in employee engagement, retention, and labor union relations.
  • Maintain customer-facing responsibilities related to supply, quality, and new product development (NPD).
  • Drive continuous improvement and strategic planning within a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Utilize ERP systems (preferably Oracle or MVP) to support operations and ensure equipment reliability.
  • Manage fabrication planning, production scheduling, and working capital optimization.
