Job Summary

The Commercial Refrigeration Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial refrigeration systems, including walk-in coolers and freezers, reach-ins, ice machines, and HVAC/refrigeration controls. This role ensures all systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with manufacturer specifications and local codes. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong technical skills and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service in the Austin area.


Essential Duties

  • Perform installation, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial refrigeration systems and components.

  • Conduct preventive maintenance and inspections to ensure proper operation and efficiency of systems.

  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues, replace defective parts, and calibrate controls as needed.

  • Maintain accurate service records, including work performed, parts used, and time on job.

  • Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams regarding service findings and recommendations.

  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards, EPA regulations, and company policies.

  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours or emergency service as needed.

  • Keep company vehicle, tools, and equipment in clean and working order.


Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in commercial refrigeration service and repair.
  • EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification required.
  • Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems, including rack systems, reach-ins, and ice machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Valid Texas driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
