Job Summary:



Mercury Systems Mixed Signal business unit is developing sophisticated mission-critical embedded technology to withstand the most rugged environments. We have a career opportunity for an electrical engineer to provide technical oversight and direction to the hardware design team. This role is a technical lead in the HW design group, where one can lead a world class hardware team, as well as still making individual technical contributions on the team. The candidate will be a strong technical leader, providing technical oversight and direction to the hardware design team.



In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a world class electrical engineering team that involves in complete hardware development life cycle of new products to bring cutting-edge technology to mission-critical aerospace and defense applications. Your talent will be utilized to bridge commercial innovation with defense-grade security to ensure our warfighters and allies have the technological advantage.



This role will play a key role as a hardware engineering team member developing and sustaining data storage and transfer systems for the Data Systems Product Line, while contributing directly to hardware development efforts on programs.



Job Responsibilities:



  • Creatively design, develop and verify complex circuits, modules and systems to meet customer and market requirements. This position is for a recognized proficient Hardware Electrical Engineer.
  • Assisting in review of system electrical requirements from product management and/or customers.
  • Developing schematics and PCB designs for rugged electronics and computer systems.
  • Creating and validating high-speed PCIE cabling and expansion solutions
  • Driving design functional specifications and supporting documentation
  • Collaborating with other functional disciplines to create and share solutions
  • Supporting electrical compliance testing to military and aerospace electrical standards.
  • Developing test plans and assisting in creating test procedures
  • Drive board bring and debug, test and verification of electrical designs
  • Interfacing with suppliers and customers to address technical issues
  • Providing mentorship and guidance to junior hardware engineers and peers.
  • Product requirement testing and validation
  • Detailed design documentation



Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering and typically 4+ years of related experience.
  • Experience designing of complex embedded digital hardware products from concept to completion
  • Design experience with cutting-edge high-speed digital design of


    • Technology from Intel (Altera), AMD(Xilinx), Microchip, TI and beyond
    • 400/200/100G Ethernet, PCIe4/5, DDR4/5 SDRAM Memory.
    • Support circuitry to include DC/DC power, Clocking, JTAG, SPI, I2C, UARTs
    • High speed fiber optics


  • Designing for ruggedized military and space environments
  • Experience creating detailed design specifications, test plans, and verification reports
  • Experience developing schematics using Cadence DEHDL (Concept) or equivalent
  • Experience supporting CAD and Signal Integrity (SI) with PCB Rules with Cadence Allegro or equivalent
  • Lab Debug skills for both HW/SW that range from new development to continued sustaining
  • This position may require you to have or obtain a government security clearance in the future. Security clearances may only be granted to U.S. citizens.
  • Ability to travel between West and East coast facilities may be necessary to support testing and integration activities. Addition travel may be required to support customer engagements.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Design experience with Intel(Xilinx) and AMD(Altera) FPGA's
  • Experience designing network switching (Mellanox, Broadcom, Marvel)
  • Cadence Allegro experience for CAD/SI layout and simulation
  • Schematic integrity checking analysis with Mentor Valydate or equivalent
  • Analysis including derating, reliability, and FMECA
  • Designing Military and Space Grade Components and Operating Environments
  • Commercial/Defense 3U/6U VPX (VITA46, VITA65)
  • Experienced in developing for military electrical standards and environments, including designing to meet to MIL-STD-704F, 1275, 461G, 1399, DO-160G.
  • Experience in power supply design and EMI compliance (CE EMI and MIL-STD-461G)
  • Design with Radiation Tolerant Grade Components and Operating Environments
  • Design for Reliability (DFR), Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Cost (DFC)

  • This position is hybrid out of our Huntsville, AL office
  • Enjoy every other Friday off with our 9/80 work schedule!






Fulltime Equivalent Job Grade Range for this Position:
* $75,000.00 - $150,000.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in FL, GA, IN, AZ, AL, MD or TX, and all remote employees
