POSITION SUMMARY:
The Chemist may undertake advanced analytical work with a minimum of preliminary instruction; modify methods for nonroutine problems; assist with method development; coordinate the work of a small group within the section as necessary.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Possess advanced instrumentation skills - troubleshooting, preventive maintenance
  • Represent NQAC at internal and external meetings as directed.
  • Independent Participation in Customer Calls/Technical Support
  • Modify methods to resolve problems requiring knowledge of theory and underlying principles of the analysis.
  • Make recommendations for new equipment and methodology.
  • Supports method implementation- basic
  • Supports method expansion - basic
  • Evaluate current methods and recommend modifications to laboratory personnel and management as new procedures become available
  • Creates training protocol (success criteria) for approval
  • Maintain awareness of current publications relating to work area and conduct literature searches as required.
  • Perform plant visits and audits as trained

EXPERIENCE:
  • BS in Related Science: >5 years experience in food science laboratory or closely related laboratory environment.
  • MS in Related Science: 2-5 years experience in food science laboratory or closely related laboratory environment
  • PhD in Related Science: 0-2 years experience in food science laboratory or closely related laboratory environment
  • 5+ years of experience in GC-MS, LC-MS, and/or ICP preferred

SKILLS:

  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Good verbal and written business communication skills
  • Teamwork

  • English Language Skills (Basic reading, writing, speaking, etc.)
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time
