| Overview The Agency of Transportation (AOT) is seeking a Highway Safety Program Coordinator to support the work of the State Highway Safety Office (SHSO). This position is responsible for managing education and law enforcement grants that advance traffic safety across Vermont. The Coordinator develops systems to collect and evaluate data, supports program planning, identifies future safety initiatives, and oversees the financial management of sub-grantees. Additional duties include preparing Highway Safety Plans and reports, monitoring grant performance, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Successful candidates will bring strong skills in data analysis, program planning, and public administration, as well as proficiency in Microsoft programs. The role requires the ability to communicate effectively, prepare detailed reports and grant applications, and translate complex data into clear insights that inform program decisions. Who May Apply This position, AOT Highway Safety Program Coordinator I (Job Requisition #53646), is open to all State employees and external applicants. Environmental Factors Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting prevail. Some travel may be required, for which private means of transportation must be available. Some work outside of normal office hours may be necessary. Minimum Qualifications Two (2) years or more of experience in financial management, auditing, accounting, grants programs, or public administration. Preferred Qualifications College coursework or degree in accounting, finance, public or business administration, or related field.
