 Job Summary Assists students through intrusive academic advisement. Advises students regarding degree and graduation requirements, various certificate programs, university transfer requirements, academic and financial aid probation/suspension status. May evaluate transcripts, equivalency of transfer credit and compute GPA's. May assist with course registration. Assists students with program planning, educational planning and course selection. Assists students with course placement through interpretation of institutional assessment measures. Maintains student files regarding advisement, educational planning and retention. Participates in cross college collaboration in the process of student development, retention and completion. Essential Functions 30% - Provides 1:1 case-management style advising and support services in-person, hybrid, and virtually to ensure successful progress toward degree completion in assigned Fields of Interest (FOI)and/or specialty student populations. Monitors advisement and enrollment progress of the assigned cohort of students. Guides students on goal setting, decision making, degree and certificate options, transfer pathways, course selection, registration, and academic progress using PeopleSoft and other technology. 25% - Supports group advising, new student orientation, and other departmental service areas as needed. Prepares and presents at events/activities that support student success, including degree information sessions, student groups/organizations, specialty populations, graduation, and other identified events. Tracks and reports out on pro-active outreach efforts to their assigned student cohort. 20% - Identifies academic options including extracurricular activities, study abroad programs, research, and internships. Advises students on selecting options best suited to their goals, interests, and skills. Connects students with additional support services and resources as needed. 15% - Participates in enrollment and retention projects related to student learning, success, and retention. Maintains program resource information, presentations, reports, correspondence, and promotional materials, sharing as needed. Assists with completion of financial aid dynamic forms including consortium agreements, maximum time frame appeals, short-program course lists, and restricted course list addendums; graduation applications, unofficial transcript evaluations, and other processing/requests as needed. 10% - Attends departmental meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities. Performs other duties as assigned, commensurate with the grade level of the position. Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree and one year of experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation. Desired Qualifications A. Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution B. One (1) or more years of experience providing academic advising in a college setting within the last 2 years C. One (1) year experience entering records in a student information system (such as PeopleSoft SIS) D. Effective written communications skills (as evidenced by application materials) E. Two (2) or more years' customer service in higher education Special Working Conditions
