About the Role:


The Manager of Outside Plant Engineering is responsible for leading a dynamic team within a leading telecommunications brand, connecting homeowners, small businesses, enterprises, and carrier partners across the United States. This role is vital for establishing meaningful customer connections and fostering long-term relationships by ensuring customers receive the products they value.



What You'll Do:



  • Provide leadership and direction to employees regarding outside plant installation and maintenance activities
  • Analyze diverse problems by evaluating various factors and exercise sound judgment in selecting appropriate engineering techniques to obtain solutions
  • Plan, analyze, and provide recommendations and work guidance to support the new construction and modification of outside plant network structures and facilities
  • Oversee wireline engineering and construction projects to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion
  • Serve as the primary contact for problem resolution
  • Ensure adherence to established policies and management guidelines while providing direction to employees
  • Other duties as assigned.

Do You Have?




  • College degree in Engineering or a related field and 5-7 years of experience, including 0-2 years of supervisory experience, or 9+ years of equivalent related Engineering/Technical experience with 0-2 years of supervisory experience, or a combination of education and related Engineering/Technical experience.


    Broad knowledge of a variety of vendor equipment and outside plant electronics disciplines
  • Proven ability to lead a team of individual contributors to achieve departmental goals
  • Candid and authentic communication style
  • Ability to effectively lead and provide managerial insight and direction to a technically oriented workforce handling multiple projects driven by diverse customer needs

  • Deep OSP construction knowledge (aerial/underground, make-ready, splicing, testing), permitting processes, and OSP standards (NESC, OSHA).
  • Proficiency with MS Office (advanced Excel), EPM (QuickBase), Job Trac, and construction project management software.
  • Experience managing contractors and vendor performance via SLAs and scorecards.
  • Familiarity with fiber assignment workflows, as-built documentation, and Service Delivery handoff requirements.
  • Continuous improvement mindset; experience with process optimization, KPIs, and root-cause analysis (Lean/Six Sigma a plus).
  • PMP or equivalent project/program management certification.



Work Environment and Travel:



  • Hybrid/remote with periodic on-site meetings; ability to travel to market areas, contractor yards, or job sites as needed (up to 10-20%).
  • Occasional field walks or job-site visits to support issue resolution or quality checks.



The starting compensation range for this position is 90,700 to 121,400.
