The Sr. Territory Manager, Stop Loss is a Senior Level Sales position. The Territory Manager will be responsible for building productive relationships and partnering with Insurance Producers (Brokers, Consultants, Wholesalers, and Third Party Administrators) to manage new business requests and renewal activity to achieve financial goals by building a profitable block of business.

If you are located in West Coast, you will have the flexibility to work remotely* as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage large geographic territory focused on the pillars of stop loss net growth, profitability and NPS
  • Create specific value proposition for each potential partnership resulting in a win/win/win for Optum, producer, and end clients
  • Develop and manage producer level business plan that focuses on new sales, renewal persistency and loss ratio for that book of business
  • Build and maintain a positive, collaborative working relationship with internal customers at all organizational levels as well as key strategic partners outside the organization
  • Work collaboratively with internal sales teams to sell additional Optum products
  • Distribute and sell Optum's Stop Loss product/value proposition
  • Work closely with Underwriters and Clinical Management on new and renewal stop loss opportunities to produce results that meet or exceed target profit levels
  • Identify and execute virtual selling strategies
  • Travel to assigned territory as required (50%+ travel required)

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years selling complex insurance products
  • A license to sell health insurance in assigned states
  • Deep industry and product knowledge (specifically Stop Loss Insurance and Managed Transplant)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Proven broker and TPA relationships in the territory
  • Proven history of meeting aggressive sales targets
  • Proven excellent time and territory management skills
  • Proven solid interpersonal/relationship development skills
  • Proven superior communication skills, ability to do formal presentations, write and converse effectively with sophistication
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and develop strategies for multiple markets
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Reliable, insured transportation and a valid driver's license

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $90,000 to $195,000 annually based on full-time employment. This role is also eligible to receive bonuses based on sales performance. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
