Job Overview

As part of the Clinical Resource Team, the clinical resource (CR) nurse functions in two capacities. First, as a house-wide resource, supporting clinical teams across the hospital based on real-time patient care needs. Second, as part of the float team, the CR Nurse assumes patient care assignments within critical care areas. The CR nurse provides clinical expertise at the bedside, promotes high-quality patient and family centered care, and ensures adherence to evidence-based practice and facility standards. In addition to providing bedside support, the CR nurse plays an integral role on emergency response teams, including code blue and trauma teams, and are often at the forefront of leading time-sensitive protocols such as Mass Transfusion or stock alerts. This dynamic and adaptable role demands advanced clinical judgment, proficiency in high-risk / low-frequency skills, and the ability to respond swiftly and effectively in emergent situations. Beyond emergencies, the CR nurse also assists with day-to-day patient care needs, workflows, and unit support. Their broad clinical expertise, leadership in emergencies, and commitment to quality improvement make them essential to ensuring patient safety and clinical excellence hospital wide. As an informal leader, the CR nurse builds and maintains relationships with multidisciplinary healthcare providers and serves as a clinical subject matter expert in both routine and clinical scenarios. Their flexibility, leadership, and clinical expertise make them a key contributor to hospital-wide operations and patient care excellence.
