The Position

The Staff Accountant position will be an integral part of the First State Bank of Uvalde Accounting Department and have the opportunity to learn and build a successful career in accounting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assist with month end financial closings by preparing standard monthly journal entries, reviewing financial statements for accuracy, and performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, or monthly reporting as scheduled
  • Perform daily subledger to general ledger reconciliations
  • File accounting journal entries, reconciliations, and other documents in respective network folders
  • Performs data entry
  • Serves as a backup to Accounts Payable Administrator



Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred and/ or 2-4 years of accounting experience.
  • Experience with financial reporting, journal entries, and reconciliations
  • Good communication skills -written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
