Location: Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD

Shift:

Full Time (40 hours)

Day Shift: 8:30am-5pm

Position Summary:



  • Under the general supervision of the Director of the Autopsy Service, the Pathologist's Assistant Supervisor or assigned PAII- Autopsy, performs technical procedures involving post mortem examinations, including evisceration, brain removal, and any special studies such as photography, radiography, angiography, collection of cultures, blood and other fluids; and fixation and distention of organs.
  • Properly stores gross specimens and tissues.
  • Performs proper disposal of hazardous waste. Responsible for filing, locating, and retrieving archived autopsy materials.
  • Ensures adequate level of supplies, maintenance of equipment and overall cleanliness and order of the autopsy area.
  • May be required to take DOT training for specimen shipping.
  • May also provide cross- coverage (with appropriate training) in other Anatomic Pathology laboratories as needed.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education



  • Requires a minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of college level coursework in anatomy, physiology, biology, chemistry, medical terminology or related experience as acquired through at least one year of additional training or related courses/experience in laboratory, autopsy, mortuary or related.


Work Experience



  • Requires a minimum of 2 years in autopsy, mortuary science, funeral service or related laboratory experience.

Salary Range: Minimum 21.56/hour - Maximum 35.60/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
