PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Civil Foreman for Carpentry/Rebar/Concrete is responsible for a combination of duties including mentorship, and leadership for their craft. Must possess strong skills and knowledge of duties in the maintenance, turnaround or new construction environment. Will supervise crews for the execution of daily work assignments. Thorough understanding of Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures. Proficient communication skills both verbal and with the use of a computer if required.

TYPICAL DUTIES:




  • Works closely with General Foreman and other site/team leaders.
  • Maintains Safety Accountability Procedures.
  • Assures that a high quality of work is being maintained.
  • Conducts and participate in daily safety, toolbox, monthly and special meetings for the crews.
  • Provides strong leadership for assigned crews.
  • Ensures all Craft Employee Evaluations are completed.
  • Promote a strong Safety culture within the crews.
  • Identify and Communicate hazards or safety concerns to superintendents, general foremen, safety, and site management
  • Perform all other job-related duties as requested, directed or assigned.



SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:



  • Minimum of six (6) years or more of experience of civil/reinforcing/rebar work in a refinery maintenance/turnaround/new construction environment.
  • Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities
  • Strong understanding of craft work being supervised and knowledge of basic hand tools.
  • Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments, results oriented
  • Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet project schedules and deadlines
  • Ability to work non-routine hours, when necessary
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required
  • Must be able to pass the Craft Skills Test at or above 70% or complete the NCCER certification for your craft.
  • Must be able to learn and maintain a good understanding of Matrix policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to complete Matrix Service Safety training, Process Safety Management training and Client / Site specific training.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active status within required drug testing program.
  • Must be able to pass background check.



Physical Requirements



  • Employee will be standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.
  • Must be able to hear, speak, understand and communicate effectively
  • May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
  • Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways and work off of platforms while utilizing proper fall protection and safety protocols
  • Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind; and must be able to work for long period of times up to 12 hours a day.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and steel-toe boots.
