Acara Solutions seeks highly qualified candidates to work onsite for our client in Austin, TX. Interested?

Here's what you'd do:

  • This position will provide design and drafting support to the Research and Development (R&D), Sustaining Research and Development (R&D), and Manufacturing Engineering teams.
  • Produce drawings and documents using SOLIDWORKS software.
  • Perform engineering design calculations.
  • Work with a cross-functional team to collect project information and communicate findings both orally and in writing.
  • Work as a team member on various projects.
  • Design and produce 3D printed fixtures for manufacturing and testing.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Prepares layouts, drawings, and designs according to engineering specifications.
  • Participates in reviewing engineering drawings and supporting documents for adherence to drafting standards.
  • Creates Computer-Aided Design (CAD) design layouts and detail drawings of products, including Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout.
  • Retrieves information from a file and displays it on the computer, using the necessary computer language.
  • Displays final drawings to verify completeness, clarity, and accuracy.
  • Thinking is within the frame of diverse procedures.
  • Performs "troubleshooting" by applying background understanding of processes or incidents to analyze and resolve operational problems with given procedures in a well-known environment.
  • Thinking is about evaluating and selecting an appropriate set of measures and about applying the correct set of tools and processes. Issue handling may often exceed the day-to-day horizon and involves planning and acting for periods of up to a few weeks ahead.
  • Work performed is still procedure-based; however, issues and problems arising need accountable addressing and solution by the incumbent.
  • Broad scope of tasks and accountabilities within one functional area needs to be managed by a senior, experienced incumbent.
  • Non-routine inquiries and issues occur regularly and need to be solved instantly, with a certain degree of authority and bindingness towards (internal and external) customers.
  • Creating complex parts & drawings, assemblies in SolidWorks or other drafting applications (Solid Edge, Pro E).
  • Training in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.

Here's what you'll get:

Pay: $ 46.62 / hr

Hours: 40 hrs / Week (1st shift)

Length: Temporary (12 months)

Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree in Drafting or Science or Technology or Engineering or Mathematics.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in mechanical design industries (aerospace, defense).
  • Minimum 4 years of experience with revision control and drawing standards.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience with Product Data Management (PDM) system administration within SolidWorks, Windchill, and Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC) Creo.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Hands-on in the lab, building parts or prototyping.
  • Familiarity with medical device design control and the medical device industry.
  • Junior to mid-level engineers who are strong in drafting.
  • Entry-level mechanical engineers with strong drafting skills.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, Creo, and tooling design.
  • Medical device experience
  • Has theoretical understanding and broader practical skills in the field of work and needs to apply practical methods, concepts, and techniques, work procedures, and processes
  • Vocationally trained positions that need both practical and theoretical understanding to perform various tasks and issues in related fields of work.
