Job Description

This role is based in our 605 Third Avenue office.

We are seeking a strategic Brand & Creative Director to lead brand positioning and creative excellence across our Black Hat events portfolio. This role combines brand stewardship with creative leadership, driving brand awareness, audience engagement, and business growth through innovative experiential marketing. You will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive brand strategies that elevate Black Hat's market position while delivering measurable ROI through creative campaigns and event experiences. Working at the intersection of brand strategy and creative execution, you will ensure consistent brand messaging across all touchpoints while pioneering new approaches to audience engagement in the cybersecurity events landscape.

Primary Responsibilities

Brand Strategy & Management

  • Develop and execute comprehensive brand strategies that drive awareness, consideration, and loyalty within the cybersecurity community
  • Own brand positioning, messaging architecture, and value proposition development across all Black Hat properties
  • Conduct brand health assessments and competitive analysis to identify market opportunities and threats
  • Establish brand guidelines and governance frameworks to ensure consistency across all customer touchpoints
  • Lead brand partnership strategies and co-marketing initiatives with key industry players

Creative Leadership & Execution

  • Direct creative vision and execution across events, digital platforms, and marketing campaigns
  • Support environmental design, experiential activations, and immersive brand experiences that drive attendee engagement
  • Oversee development of integrated marketing campaigns spanning digital, social, print, and experiential channels
  • Manage creative team performance and development, fostering innovation and creative excellence
  • Present creative concepts and brand strategies to executives and key stakeholders

Performance & Analytics

  • Establish and track key brand metrics including awareness, sentiment, share of voice, and brand equity scores
  • Analyze campaign performance data to optimize creative approaches and maximize ROI
  • Implement attribution models to measure creative impact on lead generation and revenue
  • Conduct post-event brand impact assessments and attendee experience analysis
  • Report on brand KPIs and creative performance to senior leadership quarterly

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Partner with sales teams to develop brand-aligned sales enablement materials and experiences
  • Collaborate with content marketing to ensure consistent brand messaging across all communications
  • Work with digital marketing teams to optimize brand presence across owned and paid channels
  • Coordinate with event operations to deliver seamless branded experiences
Qualifications

Senior Brand Strategy Experience (5+ years)

  • Proven track record developing and executing comprehensive brand strategies at B2B technology companies that drove measurable business growth and market positioning improvements.

Creative Leadership & Team Management

  • Experience leading cross-functional creative teams and managing creative processes from concept through execution, including agency partnerships and stakeholder presentations to C-level executives.

Experiential Marketing Expertise

  • Hands-on experience designing and executing immersive brand experiences, event activations, and environmental branding that drive attendee engagement and business outcomes.

Brand Performance Analytics

  • Proficiency in brand measurement, ROI analysis, and marketing attribution modeling with ability to connect creative investments to revenue outcomes and business KPIs.

B2B Technology/Cybersecurity Industry Knowledge

  • Understanding of cybersecurity market dynamics, professional personas, complex B2B sales cycles, and the unique challenges of marketing to information security professionals.

Executive Communication & Stakeholder Management

  • Ability to present creative concepts and brand strategies to senior leadership, manage cross-functional relationships, and influence organizational alignment around brand vision.

Budget & P&L Management

  • Experience managing substantial creative and brand marketing budgets ($50K-$150K+) with demonstrated ability to optimize spend and deliver ROI on brand investments.

Portfolio of Proven Results

  • Documented success stories showing brand growth, award-winning creative campaigns, revenue impact, and measurable improvements in brand awareness, engagement, and market position.

Events Industry Background

  • Professional events marketing experience, particularly with technology conferences, trade shows, and understanding of event lifecycle marketing from awareness through post-event engagement.

The salary range for this role is $120,000 - $135,000 based on experience.
