Role description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Workday Report Writer to join our global HRIS team. The primary responsibility of this role is to design, develop, and maintain high-quality, insightful reports and dashboards across Workday's Human Capital Management (HCM), Compensation, and Time & Absence modules. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of hands-on Workday reporting experience, a strong understanding of global HR data needs, and the ability to translate complex business requirements into effective, secure reporting solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Report Development & Maintenance
Design and Build Reports: Independently develop, test, and deploy a variety of Workday reports including
Simple, Advanced, Matrix, and Composite Reports, utilizing the Workday Report Writer toolset.
Calculated Fields: Expertly create and maintain
Workday Calculated Fields (e.g., Aggregation, Lookup, Date, Text) to meet complex reporting and integration requirements across all specialized modules.
Dashboard Creation: Develop and maintain intuitive, user-friendly
Workday Dashboards to provide actionable insights for HR Business Partners, Management, and Executive teams globally.
Data Integrity: Ensure the accuracy, security, and integrity of all reported data by thoroughly understanding Workday Business Objects and Data Sources, particularly for global reporting needs.
Functional & Global Support
Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with global HR and functional stakeholders (e.g., Compensation Analysts, Time-Off Administrators, Core HCM Leads) to gather, analyze, and document reporting requirements.
Module Expertise: Apply a strong functional understanding of Workday in
H
CM (Core HR, Worker data), Compensation (Advanced Compensation, Merit, Bonus), and Time & Absence (Time Tracking, Leave of Absence, Accruals) to ensure reports accurately reflect global policies and business processes.
Global Compliance: Support reporting needs related to global legislative, regulatory, and audit requirements (e.g., EEO, GDPR, local time/absence laws).
Technical & Operational
Troubleshooting: Provide Tier 2/3 support for reporting issues, diagnosing problems related to data sources, security, calculated fields, and report performance.
Security: Configure and maintain report-specific security to ensure compliance with global data privacy policies and role-based access controls.
Optimization: Monitor and optimize existing reports for performance, particularly those utilized by a large, global user base.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation for all custom reports, calculated fields, and reporting procedures.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
Experience: Minimum of
2 to 3 years of hands-on experience as a Workday Report Writer/Reporting Analyst.
Workday Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in building
Advanced and Matrix reports, including the use of multiple Data Sources and complex Filter/Sort criteria.
Module Knowledge: Strong functional knowledge and experience reporting on
Workday HCM, Compensation, and Time & Absence data.
Calculated Field Mastery: Proven ability to create all types of calculated fields for reporting purposes.
Global Mindset: Experience in a role supporting a global organization and understanding of data localization/compliance challenges.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate technical details to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred
Workday Pro Certification in Reporting or a relevant functional area (HCM, Compensation, or Absence).
Experience with other Workday reporting technologies like Prism Analytics or People Analytics/Discovery Boards.
Familiarity with integration concepts (EIBs, Core Connectors) as they relate to data output for reporting.
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
