OVERVIEW
Merrick & Company is seeking a Construction Manager student for a paid summer internship for Summer 226 to join our Construction Services team for a hands-on learning experience supporting an active refinery construction project in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. This internship provides an outstanding opportunity for a motivated student to apply academic knowledge in a real-world industrial environment. The selected candidate will assist the on-site project management team in coordinating daily construction activities and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and schedule requirements. Must have graduation date after August 2026 to be eligible. The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2026. We will be accepting resumes for this opportunity through end of November. Resumes will be reviewed as they are received followed by interviews. Offer will be extended in Winter. Timeframe subject to change.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Assist in coordinating day-to-day construction activities, including supporting and monitoring subcontractor performance.
- Help maintain accurate project documentation such as daily reports, RFIs, submittals, and meeting minutes.
- Support the development and tracking of project schedules and budgets in collaboration with an experienced Construction Manager.
- Participate in project meetings, preparing progress updates, and assisting with follow-up actions.
- Help implement and enforce safety procedures in accordance with refinery and Merrick safety standards.
- Conduct site walks and inspections to monitor progress, verify quality, and ensure adherence to project specifications.
- Support estimating and field engineering activities, including installed quantity take-offs, productivity and production tracking.
- Collaborate with project team members to identify and resolve construction-related issues.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have graduation date after August 2026 to be eligible.
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in either Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Must be currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of undergraduate degree or currently enrolled in grad school.
- Demonstrated interest in industrial or refinery construction management.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and be insurable under Merrick's insurance carrier.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without Sponsorship.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and navigate active construction areas safely.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6).
