Responsibilities

Sabre Systems is currently recruiting for an Senior F/A-18 Systems Engineer to support the F/A-18 and EA-18G Program Office (PMA-265) at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. This program provides critical current and future capabilities in the form of total life cycle support management (cradle to grave) for the F/A-18A-D Hornet, F/A-18E/F Super Hornet and EA-18 G Growler weapons systems. PMA-265 is responsible for acquiring, delivering, and sustaining the F/A-18 and EA-18G aircraft, ensuring mission success for U.S. Navy and Marine Corps aviators, as well as international partners to include Australia, Canada, Finland, Kuwait, Malaysia, Spain and Switzerland.

The selected candidate will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Performs programmatic or technical knowledge identifying, formulating, designing, and/or testing practical solutions to engineering problems; guiding the engineering development of modern complex systems; and employing systems engineering methods and tools in the development of advanced complex systems.
  • Reviews and prepares project directives, contract deliverables, detail specifications, test and evaluation master plans (TEMPs), contractor design approaches and results of contractor development testing to obtain an overall background and to identify possible integration problem areas.
  • Prepares project correspondence such as test plans, technical reports, letters, and memorandums. Establishes and maintains communication with project team leaders, NAVAIRSYSCOM officials, competency management and IPT team members.
  • Serves as PMA-265 Systems Engineering representative during participation at conferences, design reviews, program meetings, mockup reviews, seminars and symposia. Provides technical inputs and prepares appropriate correspondence and reports such as trip reports, meeting action items, etc.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Education: Must have a Technical or Scientific MS or MA degree from an accredited college or university; ALLOWABLE SUBSTITUTION: Technical or Scientific BS or BA degree from an accredited college or university and an additional four (4) years of recent and relevant experience

  • Minimum years of experience:
    • Must have at least ten (10) years of recent and relevant experience in an engineering position, three (3) of which must be directly related to DoD systems.
  • Key Skills:
    • Demonstrated experience in an area of engineering expertise is required.

    • Highly desired to have airworthiness experience and be familiar with NAVAIR airworthiness requirements, flight clearances, and safety of flight.

    • Experience with F/A-18 Hornet/Super Hornet or EA-18G Growler aircraft is highly desired.

  • Must have or be able to obtain an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Compensation:

At Sabre Systems, LLC, compensation is based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, and contract-specific requirements. The general salary range for this position is $130,000 - $160,000; however, final compensation will be determined by individual qualifications and applicable contract terms.
