| Essential Job Duties |
The Finance Officer serves as a strategic financial leader for the Poole College of Management, overseeing a $50M+ budget portfolio across 21 academic and administrative units. In partnership with the Operations Officer, this role provides college-wide financial oversight, forecasting, compliance management, and operational guidance to ensure strong fiscal stewardship aligned with college and university priorities.
You will serve as a trusted advisor to leadership, delivering financial analysis, monitoring performance trends, strengthening internal controls, and supporting sound resource allocation decisions. This role also provides supervision and mentorship to business staff while promoting consistent, efficient financial operations across the college.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead budget development, forecasting, and financial analysis across multiple funding sources
- Develop executive-level reports, dashboards, and multi-year projections to support strategic planning
- Advise leadership on financial trends, risks, and resource allocation strategies
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and university policies and maintain strong internal controls
- Partner with unit leaders and Business Officers to promote consistent financial practices
- Supervise and mentor financial support staff
- Serve as liaison between the College and university central offices

- In addition to the core responsibilities outlined above, the Finance Officer may take on additional duties as needed to support college initiatives and operational priorities.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in budget and financial management. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

| Other Required Qualifications |
- Demonstrated experience managing budgets within a large, complex organization
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling and data analysis
- Strong financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting skills
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to supervise or guide financial staff
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to partner across organizational levels

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience with PeopleSoft Financials or similar ERP systems
- Experience with Power BI, Smartsheet, or similar reporting tools
- Experience in state, federal, or higher education budgeting
- Knowledge of government accounting, fund accounting, and regulatory compliance frameworks
