Reports to the DHLRI Director and is responsible for executing and maintaining the Institutes mission by managing all operational and strategic issues as requested by the DHLRI Director. Creates, reviews and maintains MOUs as they intersect with departments and divisions. With Director, meets with Faculty recruits. Works toward decision-making related to policies and programs that align with the Institutes goals. Sits on DHLRI Executive Committee in creating the Strategic Plan. Oversee day-to-day operations across all service departments, including fiscal, facilities, research programs, and business operations, with DHLRI Administration staff reporting directly. Primary is providing to the Director financial oversight and projections for all funds managed within DHLRI, including development, designated, operations, and start-up funds. Reviews and approves ePA-005 and eProtocol requests. Manages the budgets and earnings from various specialized cores such as Small Animal Imaging, Small Animal Surgery, Cardiovascular Imaging, Flow, Cath and Poster and others. Ensures a balanced annual budget and makes strategic operational adjustments to support the Directors and Institutes mission. Works closely with the DHLRI Director and the Advancement Office meeting with philanthropic supporters, fostering relationships with both existing and prospective donors. Manages current use and dedicated development funds as well as budget adherence. Creates the annual stewardship report. Additionally, with Director participates in faculty recruitment by meeting with candidates whose research aligns with the Institutes goals. Manages building services staff responsible for approximately >230,000 square feet across multiple College of Medical and University buildings. Responsibilities include ultimate oversight and required approvals/auditing of capital and non-capital assets, fire safety, repairs, modifications, BEAP, and shared equipment acquisition. Collaboration with the College of Medicine for laboratory moves and closures, ensuring compliance with university policies. Leads renovation projects within the facilities. Works with the Director in devising and participating in educational and outreach initiatives that promote educational excellence within the Institute. With Director, establishes a community presence that can include special events and partnerships with surrounding areas, schools, vendors and the American Heart Association special functions. Together with the DHLRI Director, serves as an ex-officio member of several key committees, including the Space Committee, Share Equipment Committee, Education Committee, and Pathways to Progress Committee. Participating member in standing committees within the Heart and Vascular Center, Ross Heart Hospital, and the College of Medicine Basic Science Administrators, and others, contributing to broader institutional governance. Manages a dedicated human resources liaison and coordinates with the Grants Management Office and the College of Medicines Research Technology Services (IT) to ensure services provided to principal investigators align with the Institutes mission. Minimum Education and Experience Bachelors Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelors degree in business admin or relevant field, or equivalent combination of education amp; experience required; Masters degree desired; 7 years of experience in a progressively responsible administrative capacity required, preferably in a health care setting; considerable knowledge of university policies, rules, regulations, and procedures preferred; experience managing a large academic program or department preferred; considerable knowledge of accounting principles and applications required; human resources experience required; supervisory experience preferred; experience in a research environment strongly desired. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
