Job Overview: The Quality Engineer will work out of our Engineered Foam plant in Fort Wayne, Indiana which provides foam to multiple business sectors including Automotive, Medical, Aerospace, Acoustics, and a variety of other markets. The ideal candidate is a practical, hands-on person with a drive for learning and problem solving. In this role, you will use your technical expertise to improve products and processes, while working closely with customers, local team members, and others from within FXI. You will be responsible for quality aspects as applies to your customers and other needs within the organization.



Responsibilities:



  • Conduct root cause analysis for concerns internal and external and follow issues through to effective resolution.
  • Timely follow up with customers for corrective actions.
  • Internal Auditing for IATF/ISO compliance
  • Work closely with other departments on corrective, preventive and improvement activities.
  • Utilize Core Quality Tools FMEA, SPC, MSA, PPAP, APQP.
  • Lead program launch activities for new programs and complete all relevant PPAP documentation.
  • Support, develop, and maintain Work Instructions (WI's)
  • Develop and maintain appropriate logs, reports and key process indicators.
  • Support company and plant safety initiatives and objectives
  • Perform other duties as assigned by direct manager, indirect manager or their designee.


Qualifications:



  • 5+ years of experience in automotive OEM/Tier 1 customer QE or industrial manufacturing experience preferred
  • Action oriented, possess a "hands-on" mentality, is operationally focused, and is able to continually improve their skills and effectiveness
  • Strong and assertive communication skills (written and verbal), along with sound technical judgment using data-based arguments and conclusions
  • Proven ability to drive to root-cause of technical problems and facilitates implementation of the associated corrective actions in a cross-functional team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office core tools and statistical analysis software (e.g. Minitab)
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is preferred but not required
