FTE 1Scheduled Bi-Weekly Hours 80Work Shift Day: 8 hoursJob Description The Peri-Op Business Office Specialists serve as the primary point of contact for procedure scheduling, billing and front desk support in procedural departments such as the Operating Rooms, Cath Lab and Endoscopy. The Peri-Op Business Office Specialist I position is a developmental position during which employees will be trained and gain competencies to support five different areas. The position works in close collaboration with providers, staff in provider offices, patients, clinical and non-clinical staff to coordinate the surgeon's and patient's experience throughout the process of procedure scheduling and billing using a customer centric approach and mindset.. Scheduling: Performs procedure scheduling, collects and updates patient demographic and insurance information, coordinates availability of instruments, equipment, supplies, rooms and resources needed for procedures, answers incoming phone calls, ensures schedules are filled and utilized efficiently, and communicates issues to appropriate operational leaders as needed. Follows established company and departmental policies and procedures to ensure that surgical procedures are scheduled with the required amount of time, equipment, instruments, supplies and resources. Plays a key role in growing procedural volume at ECH by providing a high quality scheduling experience to surgeons and their offices. Billing: Posts and sends all charges for procedural billing while ensuring all charges are entered in a timely and accurate manner using organizational policies and procedures. Assists in the building and maintenance of new supplies and implants in designated software systems used in the organization. Assists with verifying and approving vendor invoices for products and services used during procedures. Assists the Finance Department with any research related to investigation of denied claims. Front Desk Support: Provide an organized space for charge nurse to maintain order through the day's events, answers incoming phone calls, schedules add-on procedures, helps with trouble-shooting issues on procedure day. Surgeon Satisfaction: This position is a key contributor to surgeon satisfaction initiatives within the department by participating in surgeon and patient satisfaction related process improvement activities as well as providing a high quality contact experience for the surgeon offices with every interaction, making it easy for them to do business with El Camino Health. Qualifications: 1. High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
