The Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customersupport throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, andquality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutionsfor their most critical equipment and processes.

The impact you'll make

As a Technical Owner for Smart Automated Maintenance Solutions, you will lead the development and deployment of advanced robotics algorithm techniques to enable intelligent, autonomous maintenance capabilities in semiconductor capital equipment. Your work will directly influence the scalability, reliability, and performance of next-generation robotic maintenance systems, including the evolution of Dextro, the industry's first semiconductor maintenance robot.

What you'll do

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated technical leader to drive the development of smart automated maintenance solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of robotics algorithms, system integration, and cross-functional collaboration. You will be responsible for leading complex engineering projects that integrate robotics, AI, mechanical, electrical, and software systems.

Key responsibilities include:

Lead the design and development of advanced robotics algorithms for autonomous maintenance tasks.

Integrate hardware, software, and firmware into cohesive smart maintenance systems.

Prototype, test, and iterate on robotic systems and end effectors to optimize performance and reliability.

Conduct system-level testing and validation, including regression and unit testing.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system specifications and resolve complex technical challenges.

Utilize data analysis tools and methodologies (e.g., DOE, statistical process control) to drive design improvements.

Create detailed technical documentation, including schematics, CAD models, and test reports.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, technicians, and manufacturing personnel.

Research and apply emerging technologies in robotics, computer vision, and machine learning.

Who we're looking for

We are looking for a T-shaped leader with deep expertise in robotics and a broad understanding of system engineering. The ideal candidate is creative, analytical, and hands-on, with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience; or 12 years with a Master's degree; or 8 years with a PhD.
  • Strong background in robotics, automation, and algorithm development.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, OpenCV, and machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Experience with MCAD tools (e.g., Siemens NX, Creo, SolidWorks).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in a robotics lab environment and lead cross-functional initiatives.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories - On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.

Salary

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $159,000.00 -$337,000.00.

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
