The primary purpose of this position is to supports the daily operations of the mailroom by sorting, processing, distributing, and tracking incoming and outgoing mail and packages. This position ensures timely and accurate delivery of items while providing excellent customer service to students, staff, and visitors. |

| Description of Work |
Positions in this banded class are characterized by their performance of a variety of mail distribution and office support duties. Positions require knowledge of the office or work unit policies and procedures in order to communicate information involving programs, functions, and services. Duties performed may include sorting, processing, distributing, and tracking incoming and outgoing mail and packages, the use of office technology, greeting/referring/assisting visitors/clients/staff/others. Monitoring package carriers (
UPS, FedEx,
USPS, etc.) to ensure timely hand-off and docmentation. The completion of work often involves a public contact role to obtain, clarify, or provide information regarding activities of the work unit or program. Position may also assist with campus store as needed. |

| Required Qualifications |
Graduation from high school; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
If no applicants apply who meet the required competency level and training and experience requirements, then management may consider other applicants. Salary would be determined based on competencies, equity, budget, and market considerations. |
| Preferred Qualifications |
* Mail Center Experience
* Current knowledge of the U.S. Postal System
* Current knowledge of mail center equipment
* Strong customer service skills |
| Knowledge, Skills and Abilities |
* Strong communication skills and ability to deal effectively with the public served.
* Class "C" NC driver's license required. Incumbent will need to drive a university issued vehicle to deliver the mail. |
