The Quality Lead supports the Quality Leader by overseeing daily quality operations in card manufacturing. This role provides direction to Quality Technicians, ensures compliance with customer and internal specifications, and promotes consistent application of quality processes throughout production. The Quality Lead acts as a liaison between Quality, Production, and Engineering to prevent quality issues, reduce scrap, and support continuous improvement.



Responsibilities

    Lead and coordinate daily activities of the Quality team across assigned shifts or departments.
  • Assist with Quality Technician scheduling to ensure adequate quality coverage and resources for production needs.
  • Coordinate quality checks at press, lamination, collation, and chip/finishing processes to identify and contain defects early.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for quality-related issues on the production floor.
  • Support containment, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for internal and external nonconformances.
  • Ensure AQL inspections and visual standards are consistently applied.
  • Partner with Operations and Engineering teams to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Conduct in-process and final inspections as needed to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Review and maintain quality documentation, including inspection records, defect logs, and reports.
  • Train, coach, and mentor Quality Technicians to improve technical skills, consistency, and understanding of quality expectations.
  • Support customer investigations by preparing documentation, data, and evaluating samples.
  • Monitor production quality performance trends and escalate recurring or severe issues.
  • Promote a culture of quality ownership and continuous improvement throughout the facility.
  • Assure proper completion of rerun and rework activities.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance or manufacturing.
  • Prior leadership or lead-level experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of inspection methods, measurement tools, and quality systems.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards and statistical process control (SPC) preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to train, motivate, and lead others in a team environment.

Physical Demands:

  • Work is primarily conducted standing or walking in a manufacturing environment and sitting in an office environment and often requires bending and stooping to observe product and/or manufacturing equipment.
  • Manufacturing environment is noisy and may require ear protection.
  • Work involves good eyesight, hand/eye coordination and excellent color vision to be able to ensure quality product.
  • Work involves dealing with fine detail and constant human interaction, which can be tiring both mentally and physically.
  • Work is conducted in shifts and may require long hours, including weekends and overtime, to meet deadlines.
