The role - what you'll do Barr is seeking a help desk technician to join our Minneapolis, Minnesota, team. In this hybrid role, you will support Barr's information systems team, providing technical assistance to internal computer users across Barr's offices in the U.S. and Canada. You'll configure hardware, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and install and upgrade user computers. A successful person in this role is detail-oriented, accurate, and timely in their work. They possess strong technical and problem-solving skills, superior task management abilities, and a customer service mindset. The ideal candidate is comfortable assisting users with a range of computer abilities. They are also flexible and willing to occasionally work outside normal business hours or travel to other offices. Your impact - key responsibilities
Technical support: provide direct technical support to end users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, configuring hardware, and installing/upgrading user computers. Hardware and software administration: administer and troubleshoot Windows and Microsoft Office 365 environments; install and configure Windows applications in a networked setting. User assistance: assist users with varying levels of computer proficiency, delivering exceptional client service. Task management: schedule, prioritize, and follow up on support requests to ensure timely resolution.
About the opportunity
Compensation: anticipated range of $25-$27/hr. Compensation will vary based on relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance. This position is classified as non-exempt (hourly) under the Fair Labor Standards Act. Hybrid: a hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota, office. Travel expectation: occasional travel to other Barr offices in the U.S. and Canada. Physical requirements: must be able to access and work in confined or awkward spaces (e.g., under desks) as part of routine technical support duties. Candidates must be able to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
About you - required core competencies
Education: post-high school training in computer support, networking, or a related field. Experience: bachelor's degree or three years of experience:
Providing technical support to end users. Hands-on experience with administration, troubleshooting, and installation of Windows and Microsoft Office 365 in a networked environment. Familiarity with computer hardware and internal components.
Software: Windows, Microsoft Office 365. Travel: willingness and ability to occasionally travel to other offices in the U.S. and Canada on short notice for emergency response and routine maintenance. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future.
Helpful additional experience (not required)
Experience working with VMware (Omnissa) Horizon VDI. Experience with Active Directory. Experience working with Exchange administration. Related degree or certification in a relevant field.
