The Tool & Die Maker Class A is responsible to create, document, develop and fabricate special cutting tools and fixtures used to assemble, disassemble, repair, process and test turbine engine components. Perform tooling validation checks. Perform prototype repair processing and train production personnel to transition new products. Work in team environment to assist engineers concerning concepts and development of tooling

This is an hourly, Union position with Local 475. Rate of pay is $51.09/hr



Essential Duties:



  • Understand and implement the procedures and policies set forth in the CCS Repair Station Manual, Quality Procedures and Safety and Environmental Procedures.
  • Create, document, develop and fabricate special cutting tools and fixtures used to assemble, dis-assemble, repair, process and test aircraft engine components.
  • Perform tooling validation checks and prototype repair processing.
  • Train production personnel to use new products.
  • Perform simple and complex turning, boring and threading operations to produce parts, tooling and fixtures in accordance with aircraft engine manual criteria.
  • Work in team environment to assist product engineers concerning concepts and development of tooling.
  • Know how to read and use calibrated tooling and equipment such as but not limited to vernier calipers, height gages, pit-tapes, plug gages, dial calipers, dial indicators, protractors, radius gages, hardness testers, dial bore gages, thickness gages, Omni gages, go/no-go gages, and micrometers.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances and possible solutions.
  • Apply shop mathematics and use handbook formulas.
  • Working knowledge of machinist's handbook
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary



EXPERIENCE:



  • Fifteen years related technical experience in tooling and repair of turbine engine components.
  • Performed at Machinist level or equivalent.



EDUCATION:



  • High school diploma or equivalent.
