This role emphasizes developing expertise in systems such as structured cabling, AV, and security while deepening coordination capabilities and technical acumen. Working under the guidance of senior designers and engineers, this individual begins to take ownership of portions of technology packages and demonstrates initiative in problem-solving, design coordination, and client communication.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in developing project documentation including floor plans, riser diagrams, and device schedules.
  • Perform basic calculations for conduit fill, cabling distances, and equipment loads with limited oversight.
  • Collaborate with project engineers and architects to coordinate technology system layouts with building design.
  • Contribute to redline markups and assist in delegating documentation tasks.
  • Participate in QA/QC reviews and resolve technical or graphical issues in documentation.
  • Review and edit specifications under the guidance of project engineers.
  • Attend project meetings and site visits to support coordination and client interaction.
  • Manage assigned project hours and report progress to team leads.
  • Engage in HED's Design Work Planning (DWP) process and estimate time required for task completion.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Architectural Engineering, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in technology infrastructure design or a related AEC discipline.
  • Proficient in Revit; experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with standards such as BICSI, EIA/TIA, and NEC.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for innovation.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in writing and verbally via phone, video conferencing, and in-person.
  • Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.
Work Environment

We embrace a hybrid model that promotes both autonomy and collaboration, including the freedom to work from home, with regular in-office days to connect with teammates and build culture. The office is a professional, open-space environment for collaborative and independent work.
