Paralegal Opportunity

Location: Hybrid within DE or FL with periodic travel as needed

Your role in our success:

The purpose of the paralegal position is to perform general legal work and provide administrative support for the legal team serving Chesapeake Utilities Corporation and its affiliates (collectively, the "Company").

What you'll be working on:



  • Draft legal documents and related correspondence, including confidentiality agreements, letter agreements, and legal notices.
  • Provide legal support services, including managing responses to document subpoenas, coordinating responses to discovery requests, reviewing pleadings, tracking and managing deadlines, managing garnishments, tracking and managing legal spend, managing outside counsel invoices, and issuing and maintaining legal holds.
  • Provide support across the organization on the contract lifecycle.
  • Conduct legal research in areas including but not limited to labor and employment, consumer protection, regulatory, and land use.
  • Provide support across the organization for document retention initiatives.
  • Manage customer bankruptcy proceedings in which the Company is a creditor.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Who you are:



  • College degree, preferably a bachelor's degree.
  • Paralegal certificate preferred; must have either (1) a bachelor's degree or (2) an associate's degree with a paralegal certificate.
  • At least five years' experience in a law firm or in-house role.
  • Working general legal knowledge; working knowledge of natural gas industry preferred.
  • Legal research, excellent organizational skills, strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and OneDrive.
  • Not required, but will occasionally need to commute to assigned Company office (as much as weekly) and may need travel to other Company locations.
