DevOps Engineer Overview:

The DevOps Engineer plays a critical role in bridging development and operations to streamline software delivery and infrastructure management. This role focuses on automation, cloud optimization, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices to ensure reliable, scalable, and secure systems.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure across Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) platforms, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize automation scripts using PowerShell and Python to streamline infrastructure operations and reduce manual processes
  • Support and maintain System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) infrastructure for enterprise software deployment, patch management, and system compliance
  • Manage and support hybrid infrastructure environments spanning cloud platforms and Nutanix hyperconverged on-premises infrastructure
  • Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to enable efficient and reliable application deployment processes
  • Implement and maintain infrastructure as code practices using tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, or CloudFormation
  • Monitor system performance across all environments, proactively identify issues, and implement effective solutions to ensure optimal operation
  • Administer and support standard Microsoft enterprise tools including Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows Server, and Microsoft 365/Entra ID
  • Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to improve deployment processes and ensure best practices
  • Implement and maintain security controls and compliance measures across all infrastructure components
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for processes, procedures, system configurations, and runbooks
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide production support and respond to critical infrastructure incidents
  • Manage cloud cost optimization initiatives and implement strategies to maximize resource efficiency
  • Configure and maintain monitoring and logging solutions to ensure visibility across all infrastructure components


Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience in lieu of degree
  • 5+ years of professional experience in DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering, or related technical roles
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, and managing infrastructure in Microsoft Azure and AWS
  • Experience with Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure in on-premises environments
  • Advanced scripting skills in PowerShell and Python for automation, infrastructure management, and system administration
  • Hands-on experience with SCCM and Microsoft enterprise technologies (Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows Server, and Microsoft 365)
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols, security principles, and infrastructure as code (IaC) practices
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git, Azure DevOps, GitHub) and CI/CD concepts and pipeline implementation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in emerging technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools and technologies to enhance efficiency, streamline processes, assist in problem-solving and decision-making, or drive business outcomes


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Current certifications in Microsoft Azure (e.g., Administrator Associate, DevOps Engineer Expert) and AWS (e.g., Solutions Architect Associate, DevOps Engineer Professional)
  • Experience with IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture patterns and deployment strategies
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Azure Monitor, AWS CloudWatch, Dynatrace, Splunk)
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies and disaster recovery planning
  • Understanding of compliance frameworks and security best practices (NIST, CIS, ISO 27001) and network security tools (firewalls, VPNs, segmentation)
  • Experience with cloud-based database administration


Compensation:

$100,000.00-120,000.00. This is the base compensation hiring range for this role.
