* outreach to the campus community

The training year begins on August 26, 2026, and ends on August 25, 2027. Trainees receive vacation, sick leave, professional development time, and other university benefits. Per University of California policy, UCSB requires applicants to pass a background check as a condition of employment.

The department welcomes candidates who bring a wide range of experiences and perspectives that strengthen our shared mission of providing exceptional counseling, training, and service to students.

UCSB is one of ten campuses in the University of California system. The campus is located on an 815-acre coastal site nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Ynez mountain range, 10 miles from Santa Barbara and 100 miles north of Los Angeles. The Santa Barbara area offers an outstanding quality of life.

UCSB ranks among the top 10 public universities in the nation. A member of the Association of American Universities, it is home to 10 Nobel Laureates, about 900 renowned faculty members, and dozens of elected members or fellows of prominent academies and associations.

Student enrollment is approximately 25,000, and our combined student population is increasingly multicultural and highly competitive. More than 70% of the students live on campus or in the adjacent community of Isla Vista, which creates a stimulating student residential environment.
