Are you passionate about empowering others to reach their full potential? We're looking for a Certified Trainer who can deliver dynamic, results-driven training programs that make an impact. This position is responsible for planning, developing, and delivering training programs across BSJ to support employee growth and performance. This role identifies training needs and creates effective learning materials, including manuals, workbooks, presentations, scripts, and audio-visual aids. The Certified Trainer II is dedicated to expanding and enhancing the training resources available to all departments, ensuring programs are relevant and impactful. They assist in evaluating training effectiveness and employee progress, while also maintaining the training library and distributing materials as needed. This position assists the Trainer as needed in onboarding new hire groups, supporting them through their initial training journey to set them up for success. In addition, the Certified Trainer II helps coordinate daily department operations, delegating tasks to ensure proper coverage and efficiency. They also supply departmental and report leadership, and are responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining mentorship and leadership development programs for both operational and divisional staff.

The starting salary range for this position is $56,000.00-$62,000.00 per year. All compensation offers are analyzed individually and take into consideration multiple factors including but not limited to geographic location, years of experience, and educational background.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in overseeing, leading and delegation of the department operations and assignments while utilizing all department team members to maximize productivity, efficiency, and the potential of the human assets of the company. Provides peer coaching, counseling, training, assuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational mission, values, policies and work rules.
  • Regularly assist in department performance and provide recommendations as appropriate to reporting manager.
  • Develops and implements effective Training policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Creates, develops, implements, and maintains independent training programs or projects for BSJ and its employees.
  • Assists management in identifying BSJ training and development needs.
  • Evaluates training programs and services. Provides recommendations and suggestions for improvements.
  • Designs and develops training procedures and programs. Prepares audio-visual aids, training manuals, scripts, and workbooks.
  • Accepts assignment of new hire employee groups to the extent of being their primary trainer and point of contact for their prescheduled training programs assigned to them at the start of their career.
  • Makes regular connection with their new hire group outside of standard, scheduled training sessions and provides support and extra learning materials and resources as needed
  • Prepares schedules, assignments, calendars, and other administrative requirements on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, or as needed basis to ensure adequate coverage and course offerings are provided.
  • Creates, builds, maintains, and conducts mentor, peer coaching, and leadership classes and courses that are offered to our division employees.
  • Operates as a supportive leader and extension of department management and initiatives in the absence of the department or senior manager.
  • Conducts training sessions to ensure BSJ personnel are effective in their respective positions. Delivers employee orientations, on-the-job training programs and in-service activities as necessary.
  • Creates, maintains, updates, and manages documentation, resources, and pages used by various departments available through our division intranet.
  • Ensures the maintenance of a Training Resources library and related audio-visual equipment.
  • Assists in coordinating and scheduling training activities.
  • Regularly connects with department managers to identify training or other reference or support material needs.
  • Completes training functions in accordance with established programs and procedures.
  • Enhances leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills through self-study or other assigned programs and development opportunities. Completing at least 24 hours of continued training and development annually.
  • Completes required reports, records and other documentation and tracking.
  • Attends and participates in division and corporate meetings and committees as required.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communication and coordination with BSJ personnel and with Management.
  • Represents BSJ in contacts with consultants and trade professionals.
  • Ensures requests, questions, and problems are courteously and professionally resolved. Ensures communications are accurate, efficient, and effective.
  • Absorbs responsibilities and duties of branch management requirements and functions of the physical building and staff when housed at a non-operational/admin facility.

Ongoing Responsibilities and Adherence to Compliance:

  • Adhere to Bank of the San Juans Company Core Values.
  • Adhere to all applicable banking regulations, applicable laws, company policies, management directives, security, and operational procedures.
  • Responsible for the timely completion of all required Compliance and Security training assigned by GBCI and BSJ within the designated timeframes. It is the individual's responsibility to fully understand the content presented in each training module. If clarification is needed, the learner must proactively reach out to their supervisor to request further explanation or additional training as necessary.
  • Responsible for adherence to Bank Security Policy and for reporting security risks to management.
  • Keep management appropriately informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
  • Support the bank's mission by participating in Community Service and Bank sponsored activities, while consistently representing the bank in a professional manner. This includes maintaining a professional image, upholding confidentiality, demonstrating a positive "can-do" attitude, while being flexible, and adaptable to meet both the bank and customer needs.
  • Employee must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.
  • Attend and actively participate in required meetings.
  • Provide exceptional internal and external customer service by interacting calmly and professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds at various levels within and outside of the organization.

About You

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two-year College Degree or completion of a specialized course of study or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five to ten years banking experience specific to frontline operations, new accounts, and personal banking roles.
  • One to two years of bank training experience specific to frontline operations, new accounts, and personal banking roles
  • One to two years supervisory/management, team leadership, or project/program management related roles preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY:

  • Understanding of job functions and operations at all levels of BSJ (preferred).
  • Knowledge of training systems and resources.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient knowledge of internal and external training, media, and resource creation platforms.
  • A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature are a normal part of the day-to-day experience.
  • Communications can involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to plan, develop and implement a curriculum.
  • Well organized.
  • Able to meet deadlines and work independently with little supervision of work.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level. Occasional local and out of town travel.

Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Starting salary is dependent upon relevant experience and may vary based on the geographic location of the position.
