Almac Group is currently seeking a Laboratory Support Assistant for our Durham, NC location. The Laboratory Support Assistant will be responsible for supporting the daily, efficient running of the Almac Diagnostic Services Laboratory. This includes ensuring the housekeeping is kept to a high standard, maintaining equipment, managing inventory & stock, data compilation & completion, maintenance of the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) digital records folder, maintenance of the Global Chemical Assessment System (GCAS) and ensuring all protocols are followed.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Assist in the maintenance of laboratory equipment.


  • Assist in the stock & inventory tasks required to maintain production such as maintain inventory, perform weekly stock checks, inspection and release of goods into the production areas and component labelling.


  • Assist in the receipt and logging of laboratory consumables, reagents, equipment & materials


  • Use LIMS to receive and log courier sample packages, dispatch/return customer samples as needed


  • Act as the Almac Diagnostics laboratory point of contact for Almac Diagnostic's HSE to include maintenance & upkeep of the Safety Data Sheet System and the Global Chemical Assessment System (GCAS) for chemical assessments & tracking.


  • Ensure high levels of cleanliness and housekeeping within all laboratories, including proper disposal of all waste and expired reagents/kits/consumables
  • Ensure all protective clothing and equipment is available and suitable for use within the laboratories, to include send out of lab coats for off-site cleaning.
  • Assist in the generation, revision, and/or review of laboratory or equipment-related SOPs and other quality documents.
  • Maintain supporting documentation according to procedures, and promptly document and correct any non-conformances with minimal disruption to lab work.
  • Manual handling of gas cylinders and dewars



Qualifications:
Required Experience / Education:


  • High School Diploma


  • Knowledge of laboratory terminology (biohazards, PPE, decontamination, etc.)
  • Ability to use programs like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and perform fundamental operations like creating, editing and saving documents


  • Familiarity with asceptic techniques such as keeping workspaces clean and free of contamination.
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory safety protocols and procedures



Preferred Experience / Education:



  • Associate's degree in a science related field or 6 months - 1 year experience working in a commercialized environment or pharmaceutical/biotech technical role and familiar with GXP, GMP, GLP or GCP practices
  • Laboratory familiarity with standard laboratory procedures and equipment.
  • 1+ year of working in a pharmaceutical or laboratory-based role
  • Experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems
  • Experience with maintaining laboratory equipment


  • Familiar with GMP, CLIA, and CAP laboratory guidelines
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice and Good Documentation Guidelines
