Overview

Develop and coordinate site wide plans to meet HSEF objectives and compliance with local, state and federal regulations. This position involves a blend of strategy and practical application, focusing on developing, implementing, and monitoring policies that promote a safe and healthy work environment. By conducting risk assessments, training employees on safety protocols, and staying abreast of regulatory changes, the HSE Coordinator helps to minimize workplace hazards. Maintain the facilities and equipment maintenance work order request system, preventative maintenance tracking of all facility and equipment requirements; perform moderately skilled office work, such as SAP purchase orders and purchase requisitions, budget maintenance and tracking; data input and management and seating layouts. Make periodic and special inspections of the premise to determine repair work when necessary as well as safety and environmental inspections, work from blueprints, drawings and rough sketches. Through collaboration with various departments, the HSEF Coordinator facilitates a culture of safety and environmental awareness, making it an essential component of the organization's operational framework.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain the work order request system for both facilities and equipment maintenance.
  • Perform regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations
  • Create Purchase orders and Purchase requests ensuring that lab supply stock is properly maintained.
  • Maintain preventative maintenance and safety logs for facilities and equipment maintenance.
  • Perform moderately semi-skilled office tasks in SAP and Microsoft office programs as necessary.
  • Participate in safety training and actively comply with safety policies and practices.
  • Improve and maintain 5S in your area; make suggestions for improvements.
  • Participate in Lean/Six Sigma activities in own work area as well as events for other areas to enhance cross-functional problem solving.
  • Collaborate in team meetings and activities, including HSE team support as appropriate.
  • Completing reports on incidents or accidents and tracking through closure.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned such as workstation set up to maintain best ergonomics.
  • Environmental Metrics Data Collection & Input (Excel)
  • Hazardous Waste Management (Schedule Pick Up, Manifest Management)
  • Safety Inspection Scheduling
  • HSE Program Upkeep (Shoe Voucher, Prescription Safety Glasses, Training Schedules, Workers Compensation)
  • Site Inspections (Fire Extinguisher, AED, BMP)

Qualifications

MINIMUM:

  • Two (2) years of HSE, Facility and/or equipment maintenance experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance, which requires USA Citizenship.

PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree, with a major favoring field such as Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or Industrial Engineering
  • Practical experience ranging from initial exposure to seasoned expertise in health, safety, and environmental management.
  • Experience working with SAP, Excel (Formulas, Pivot Tables), and MPulse
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST). Additionally, a NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) certificate can be beneficial.

Salary Range: $27.06/hr - $38.14/hr (San Diego, CA)

Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
