Description

Vocational/Educational Specialist

General Summary: Provides assessment, coordination, advocacy and support to the clients of the Health Transitions program for the purpose of creation, development or enhancement of an individual placement and Support Plan. Provides education and advocacy to individuals and/or their family in helping individual achieve their academic and/or vocational goals.

Essential Responsibilities:



  • Develop and implement treatment plans and interventions aimed at supporting the educational vocational success of persons serviced.
  • Assist persons served to continue, resume, or adapt their academic or vocational activities to support future goals.
  • Teach basic communication skills that would enable an individual to succeed in developing positive relationships with others to support educational/vocational goals.
  • Assist in teaching clients to develop skills necessary to access academic and/or vocational support/success.
  • Provides consultation to other team members on academic and vocational supports and resources
  • Produce billing forms, logs, data collection and clinical documentation in accordance with Thrive standards and State and Federal licensing regulations.
  • Provide individual, group or family supportive counseling as needed, to produce a positive result in the creation or maintenance of an educational/vocational plan.



Additional Responsibilities:




  • Must attend all agency/department required training and meetings within the prescribed period.
  • Attend all Safety Training programs and be able to describe his/her responsibilities related to the general safety, department safety, and specific job-related hazards and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all clients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.

  • Present a neat appearance in proper attire and identification as required by the position, department and agency policies and procedures.
  • Must work the hours and/or shifts assigned, and begin and end on time.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Competencies:



  • Bachelor's Degree in the human services, education, business or a related field, or
  • Associate's Degree with an equivalent combination of related experience.
  • Two years full-time experience in a program or environment providing supported employment or related services for individuals with behavioral health challenges.


Certifications, Licenses Requirements:



  • Supported Employment Professional Certification may replace one (1) year of experience in education or experience.
  • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance which meets Rhode Island minimum standards required, or the ability to obtain necessary transportation in order to perform the responsibilities/tasks of the position.
