Scope of Performance: Candidate will assist senior technicians in the creation of Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) programs for a variety of CNC Machines and writing CNC programs using Computer Aided Drafting /Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) software. Candidates will assist in laying out work from blueprints, drawings and sketches, work orders, model of parts to be made or other specifications, and assist in performing manual editing or revision of programs/designs initially created with CAD/CAM systems, as required - accounting for sequence of repair, speeds and feeds and coolant flow, orientation of part, material types, fixturing, tooling, grade level of the operator, and procedures to measure and assure quality of product according to technical data requirements and within an economical time frame (this includes 4 axis programming).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain machining operations throughout shift - while assisting in monitoring product quality through regular inspection intervals.
  • Assist senior technicians in conducting CNC Set-Up and operating numerous CNC machines, four axis mill, lathes, vertical and horizontal milling machines, jig borers, drill presses, waterjets, wire electro-discharge machines, shapers, and other machine shop tools and equipment to fabricate parts in compliance with departmental procedures using CAD/CAM programming software and in operating a variety of modern multi-axis CNC machining equipment.
  • Prepare raw materials to load them into specific equipment
  • Ability to utilize engineering mathematical formulas to prepare tool /culler path data for complex, multi-axis cuts.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to fix complex equipment
  • Ability to perform minor disassembly of CNC and other assigned machines, replaces worn parts, components and assemblies.
  • Work closely with QA/QC personnel to verify parts and maintain accurate inspection records
  • Knowledge of the hazards associated with working on and near electro-mechanical equipment and the appropriate safety measures to observe.

Education and Experience - Required/Preferred:

  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
  • 5+ years of experience in CNC machining
  • Ability to carry and handle items weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Strong math and analytical skills
  • Ability or receive and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
