Join our team at Terex Utilities and embark on an exciting opportunity as we seek a skilled and dedicated Sr. HSE Manager to contribute to the Terex team in Watertown, SD.

As the Sr. HSE Manager, you will lead a team of managers and coordinators in support of Terex's HSE strategies, lead compliance and performance and associated responsibilities. This position will work with peers and upper leadership toward complementary alignment and common goal expectations. Success will be accomplished in a dynamic business structure, managing near and long range expectations simultaneously across multiple Terex sites (manufacturing, fabrication and 21 service locations). Expectation is to demonstrate strong progressive managerial skills and to create a strong safety culture that engages each team member. This Senior Manager position supports the Terex Utilities business, and the position has travel expectancy of 50%+, preferably centrally located to the Watertown facility.

What you'll do

  • Leading, developing, and inspiring the Terex team to expect and achieve exceptional safety performance.
  • Influencing team members and leaders across the enterprise to own key safety initiatives that will reduce risk.
  • Build continuity between business expectations and EHS initiatives, continually building partnerships.
  • Ensuring all environmental, health, safety, and security regulatory requirements are met and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Utilizing metrics and innovative incentives and techniques to drive the correct safety behavior at all levels of the organization.
  • Performing at a high energy level, ethically with tenacity and accuracy.
  • Supporting leaders in all departments to ensure safety regulations are followed and to eliminate any unsafe working conditions through continual risk evaluation and risk reduction.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and regulations in addition to Dover Rules and Code of Ethics.
  • Assessing, establishing, and executing relevant training.
  • Participating in daily EHS activities such as safety walkthrough inspections, audits, task evaluations, testing, training, briefings and reporting of performance measures.
  • Integrating proper, safe work procedures while cultivating positive attitudes.
  • Instilling personal accountability by leading and participating in Behavior Based Safety structured process.
  • Using a hands-on approach to nurture organizational compliance of applicable OSHA and EPA federal, state, local and corporate safety, health, and environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluating, identifying, and assuring that the plant operations follow and adhere to proven and standardized EHS procedures, policies and rules by all assigned team members, visitors, customers, and contractors entering the plant properties.
  • Promoting and leading Safety JHA Kaizen events and sustainment initiatives in conjunction with all Continuous Improvement efforts.
  • Leading risk mitigation and injury prevention initiatives.
  • Creating a culture of safety within the organization by demonstrating honest, genuine care and compassion for all Team Members and their safety.
  • Developing strategies in support of the Business Unit's goals and objectives relating to safety and environmental protection. This position will work closely with leadership and EHS committees in the formulation of these strategies.
  • Providing counsel to leadership responsible for safety and environmental protection on a local or regional level. Such counsel will include remedial or preventative programs tailored to local and regional needs.
  • Promoting carbon reduction, pollution prevention and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Demonstrating a high-level understanding of OSHA and ADEM regulations.
  • Participating in new product and process reviews including process hazard analyses and operator training.
  • Regulating and enforcing environmental engineering policies, programs and activities by established standards, drafting new standards as necessary.
  • Completing environmental compliance audits, interacting with outsidAe vendors as necessary to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintaining corporate safety library (videos, regulations, and reference manuals).
  • Maintaining required safety reports, track safety incidents, and providing necessary reporting.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Traveling as required.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health and Safety or associated dicipline, 7 years experience preferred. In lieu of degree, candidates possessing proven successful 10+ years applicable HSE experience may be considered. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Desired certifications: Certified Safety Professional
  • 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment is a must. The work requires a professional knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques of engineering concerned with facilities and systems, controlling waste and protecting quality of resources and the environment.
  • Experience of dealing with regulatory agencies, i.e., OSHA, EPA and local authorities.
  • Able to enthusiastically perform and lead a variety of tasks, planned and unplanned, with an exceptionally high level of quality to meet target dates.
  • Ability to effectively influence others to enlist the needed cooperation in implementing safety policies.
  • Ability to positively represent Terex when working with regulatory agencies, consultants, and other external personnel.
  • Excellent written, oral, and computer skills required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment across a multi-site organization.

Salary: The compensation range for this position is $102,000- $139,000 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.
