The Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB) in the College of Science is seeking a Marketing Specialist to coordinate the department's communications, outreach, development, and recruitment efforts. The successful applicant will be able to manage a variety of projects, including managing the department's online presence (social media and website), communicating academic and scientific news to the public, engaging alumni, and organizing outreach and recruitment events. | Duties & Responsibilities |
Communications:
- Develop content for and maintain MCB's Drupal-based website and the department's social medial presence, including Instagram and LinkedIn.
- Publish a quarterly departmental newsletter, including developing and writing scientific and human interest content.
- Layout email newsletter and maintain address list.
- Connect with alumni and potential donors regarding involvement opportunities.
- Produce materials for recruitment and outreach, including printed brochures and flyers as well as promotional items.
Recruitment:
- Organize events, including but not limited to, the annual Meet MCB! open house, graduate program happy hour, and graduation.
- Develop student-centric content for recruitment materials.
- Facilitate departmental outreach to admitted students.
- Liaise with College of Science recruitment office on events and programs
Outreach:
- Coordinate MCB's participation in public STEM events, including registration, ordering supplies, and recruiting volunteers.
- Respond appropriately to ad hoc outreach opportunities based on available resources and departmental priorities.
- Support and coordinate with ongoing outreach activities in the department, including the BIOTECH Project.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
