About the Job

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

This position is for a teaching assistant in the undergraduate human anatomy cadaver lab. The candidate will work under the direction of the undergraduate anatomy course director to prepare the anatomy lab for weekly teaching sessions. Teaching assistants will teach two, two-hour teaching labs, teach one hour of open lab, and proctor exams.

49.5% Cadaver lab set up: Teaching assistants will help draw images on whiteboards, set up teaching stations, set up procured specimens, dissect anatomical structures and attend teaching workshops.

49.5% Cadaver teaching lab: Teaching assistants will assist students in learning weekly material by reviewing structures on donors and models.

1% Teaching assistants are required to proctor at least 1 lecture exam during the semester.

Qualifications

All required qualifications must be included in the application materials

Required Qualifications:
- Must have completed an advanced anatomy course with a cadaver lab.
- Must be able to attend lab setup on Fridays, during the spring semester (Jan 20-May 15), from 12pm to 4pm.
- Must have teaching experience and demonstrate the ability to convey anatomical concepts clearly and concisely.
- Must be available to teach 2, 2-hour lab sessions and 1 hour of open lab during the spring semester (Jan 20-May 15).
- Proctor at least one lecture exam during the semester (1.5 hour time commitment).

Preferred Qualifications:
- Successful completion of an advanced physiology course with lab
- Experience as a teaching assistant for a 3000+ level course

About the Department

The Department of Integrative Biology and Physiology's research centers on integrative systems biology of the heart and vasculature, including the close linkages among cardiovascular diseases and obesity, diabetes and metabolism at the whole animal level. The department is ideally positioned to bridge basic science discoveries to clinically relevant applications, spanning from academia to our neighbors in the biomedical industry.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $15.25 - $20 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.

25% appointment
