Clariant is currently looking for a Senior Formulation Manager, North America, to support the Lucas Meyer division of the Care Chemicals business unit based in New Providence, NJ. The Senior Formulation Manager is responsible for leading the formulation and application strategy across the region, ensuring alignment with global priorities while addressing local market needs. This role acts as the technical interface with the France-based Center of Expertise, develops innovative regional formulations, and provides high-quality technical support to customers, distributors, and sales teams. A strong background at the bench is essential, as this role involves providing technical support to customers, delivering hands-on demonstrations and training sessions, and guiding the team through practical formulation activities. The position also manages laboratory operations, resources, and budgets, and drives projects to successful completion while promoting collaboration, continuous improvement, and team development. This role requires 20-30% travel for customer-facing lab sessions/meetings and trade shows. Clariant offers a hybrid work schedule, competitive salary, PTO, and an annual bonus. Responsibilities

* Implement global formulation and application strategies at the regional level
* Serve as technical liaison with the France-based Center of Expertise
* Master regional market dynamics, identify unmet consumer/customer needs, and feed insights into the global organization
* Manage laboratory operations, ensuring HSE compliance, proper maintenance, and resource allocation
* Define and monitor budgets and CAPEX investments in line with global strategy
* Lead, mentor, and allocate resources within the regional formulation team, which includes a Formulation Specialist and a Formulation Manager
* Manage project priorities in collaboration with the Regional Sales Director; validate milestones and documents
* Identify potential project issues, propose contingency plans, and implement corrective actions
* Represent the formulation team in regional initiatives, promoting teamwork and collaboration
* Provide timely technical support and training for sales teams, customers, and distributors
* Develop regional formulations, either from scratch or adapted from global formulations, based on technical intelligence



Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Sciences, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
* Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in a cosmetic formulation laboratory, including leadership responsibilities
* Expertise in emulsion technology, sunscreen formulations, and experience in scaling up formulations (preferred)
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills with the ability to work independently
* Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate with regional and global teams
