GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

This is a contract position governed by the terms and conditions of the employment agreement.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Paraprofessional work providing support and specialized enforcement for the Code Compliance Division
  • Under the general supervision of the Code Compliance Division Manager, performs research, investigative, enforcement, and follow up duties on watering violations for the City; Issues notices of violation citations for non-compliance and prepares and processes cases for special magistrate hearings and court; Investigates Illegal parking complaints and issues parking tickets as appropriate.
  • Ability to act as a public information resource.
  • Ability to give and receive instructions and apply consistent courtesy and tact in public contact and /or confrontational situations.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret and apply regulations, procedures, and related information.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in both routing and non-routine situations.
  • Knowledge of local geography and of the location of roads and streets within the municipality.
  • Knowledge of local codes and ordinances or how to access such.
  • Knowledge of report and record keeping principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of evidence preservation, preparation, and correlations principles and practices.
  • Skill in both written and oral communications for effective expression and clarity.
  • Must have the ability to work early morning and late-night shifts, and flexible schedules as needed to address code violations.
  • Individual(s) assigned to this classification must report to work per their assigned schedule.
  • May be required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of assigned tasks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).
When assigned to the City Clerk Department:
  • Researches, investigates, enforces, and follows up on Business Tax Receipt and Residential Rental Registration compliance for the City.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED required; with one (1) year vocational work experience in investigation, inspection, or gathering evidence.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license upon hire and obtain a valid Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.
  • Tasks are performed inside and outside, subject to weather conditions and uneven terrain, and risk of exposure to toxic agents/chemicals, pathogens, and smoke. The position involves light physical demands, such as exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Tasks may require prolonged periods of visual concentration and require moderate levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
  • Requires the ability to speak, hear (perceive sound) and/or signal people to convey and exchange information; differentiate between colors or shades of color; read a variety of materials, at times complex; apply principles of rational problem-solving; record and deliver information, explain procedures, issue and follow oral and written instructions; and communicate effectively and efficiently in Standard English as primary language while performing job duties.
